Formfile

A Formfacade alternative for Google Forms file uploads

Both let people upload files to your Google Form without a Google account. They differ in price, file size and how much else they do.

Formfacade is the most installed add-on on the Google Workspace Marketplace for file uploads without a sign-in, and it does much more than uploads. Formfile does one thing: it adds upload buttons that need no Google account to your existing Google Form. Here's how they compare, along with the free options and Jotform.

When Formfacade is the better pick

  • You need files larger than 250 MB. Its top plan takes files up to 1 GB.
  • You want to redesign how the form looks, or you already use its other features.

When Formfile is the better pick

  • You only need people to upload files without signing in, and you'd rather pay $8 a month than $28 or more.
  • You collect fewer than 25 files a month and want it free.
  • You want the narrowest Drive access: Formfile uses Google's drive.file permission, which only reaches the files Formfile creates. How access works.

Other options

Jotform

Jotform is a separate form builder that accepts files without sign-in. You'd rebuild or import your form there and leave Google Forms behind. Its free plan has 5 forms, 100 submissions a month and 100 MB of upload storage; paid plans start at $39 a month billed monthly (from its pricing page, October 2026).

Free, without a tool

Ask for a link to the file in a Short answer question, or use a Dropbox file request, which doesn't need an account to upload. Both are free; neither puts the file next to the person's answers automatically. More on these in collecting files from people without a Google account.

Google's own File upload question

Free and generous (up to 10 GB per file), as long as every respondent signs in to a Google account. If they all do, you don't need any of these tools. Google's limits, explained.

Try Formfile on your form

Setup takes a few minutes: swap the File upload question for a Short answer question, connect the form, and share the new link.

Common questions

Does Formfile copy my Google Form?

No copy is made in another form builder. Formfile reads your live Google Form and shows it at its own link, and responses are submitted to Google Forms, so your responses, Sheet and settings stay where they are. Edits you make in Google Forms appear within a minute.

Can I switch from Formfacade to Formfile?

Yes. Connect the same Google Form to Formfile, switch on the Short answer question that holds the file links, and share the Formfile link. Earlier responses and files stay where they are.

Is Formfile affiliated with Formfacade, Jotform or Google?

No. Formfile is a small independent product. Formfacade, Jotform, Google Forms and Google Drive are trademarks of their owners.
